In a name
By Golda
what it's in a name?
it's all the terrible
and wonderful,
impossibilities and possibilities
that each letter holds,
every promise
in every lovable,
meaningless syllable.
its sound, how it rolls
round my tongue;
its taste and texture
oh how it makes me
all giggly.
and fluttery
and totally
mad, crazy.
what's in a name?
in it, within it
are my dreams,
and my hearts desire-
you say his name, yet
you're not calling him, but still
my cheeks burn
and my eyes stray-
and it burns, it burns
yet
i like the way it burns.
